Almedalen 2026: Energy security as a competitive advantage

The energy issue is no longer confined to the climate agenda. It has firmly moved into the realm of security policy.

During the Swedish political week Almedalen, our CEO Jessica Friberg joined a panel discussion on energy security together with Robert Åberg, CEO of Sigma Technology Insight Solutions AB, and Aurore Belfrage, tech investor and Geopolitical Risk Advisor. Moderated by Nataly Lamkén, Head of Communications at Sigma Technology Group.

The discussion broadened into a larger question: how we design energy systems and societies that remain stable and functional even in times of crisis, disruption, or conflict.

Energy resilience is becoming a defining factor for both national security and long-term societal stability. What was once primarily framed as a climate and sustainability challenge is increasingly understood as a strategic issue. This shift is likely to shape energy policy and infrastructure development for years to come.
